Waterfalls of the Umpqua, 2018

Who knew the North Umpqua had so many waterfalls?  I sure didn’t.  But following our recent tour, I’m impressed.

I’ve certainly traveled the North Umpqua before, but I’ve actually not spent the time I would have liked to actually.  I certainly knew it was a place of great beauty, but other than a day of fishing a small stretch I really hadn’t had the time to dig in.  This past weekend was the first attempt to remedy that.

After stumbling across a web brochure I was surprised at the number of waterfalls either on or running into the North Umpqua.  Add in a great campground and we had a weekend.

Dog Days, 2018

Labor Day is approaching and the long hot smoky days of summer draw are drawing to a close.  Fire season necessitates sticking close to home over the summer but there have been some chances to escape to a nearby lake or two, and even a couple of days on the coast.  Here’s a couple of shots from the last month or two of adventures.

Paulina Lake never disappoints with its blue water and beautiful sunsets.  The kokanee are pretty tasty too.

Before fires completely filled the sky with smoke later in August we were treated to a few nice color filled sunsets, including this one spotted on the way back from an evening trip to Paulina.
