Exploring the Panhandle of Idaho | St. Joe River

This trip started with a whoosh. Well, actually it started with a long slow drive up a rocky road, leading to that whoosh. The whoosh was the air rushing out of our right rear tire at record speed after being punctured by a rock. There’s nothing quite like spending the day working your way into a remote site in the forest to spend a few days, only to come up a mile or so short of your goal, and then feeling the need to go get a tire fixed. We passed the three options of camps we intended to stay at. They looked very nice. Maybe next time.

We spent the remainder of the day, and most of the next one driving out for a tire repair and then back to the St. Joe. Along the way out we picked up another flat tire. I guess the rocks are sharp on the St. Joe. Or they had a message for us. I’m going with the first option.

Exploring the Green Mountain National Forest, 2022

After staying pretty local enjoying the fall colors we were able to escape for an overnight to the Green Mountain National Forest. The Green Mountain National Forest is Vermont’s only national forest and it was high on the list to check out, since larger areas of public land are pretty hard to come by in Vermont. We also had the Waybury Inn on the list of things to see. The Waybury (the outside) is the Inn in the show “Newhart” owned by the Loudens and known on the show as the Stratford Inn. Since we took on the new profession as innkeepers we’ve been watching old Newhart episodes and wanted to go see the Stratford in person. It’s isn’t white anymore, but otherwise it’s the Stratford.

Winter Camping, 2022

Now that winter (meteorological winter) has passed it is time for a quick roundup of a few trips we were able to pull off in the last days of January and the month of February. It's been a goal to get out winter camping and in fact we hope to get in camping trips all 12 months this year. Ana Reservoir We had quite a long stretch of sunny warm weather. Why not go fishing?…
