Fall in the Idaho Woods

There has been some nice color the last few weeks in north central Idaho. The hardwoods (birch, mountain ash, cherry, cottonwood) along the rivers have been especially vibrant this fall. The western larch has been a little slower to change but seems to be hitting its peak as we turn the calendar into November.

The larch on the south fork of the Clearwater river are always a fall favorite.

A bit early for the goldest of the gold, but getting there, mid October

We’ve been waiting on truck repairs that are stretching into the second month! Luckily there’s lots of nice scenery close to home.

Even when the mountain ash loses its leaves the berries add color well into late fall.

Fall may be the best time to be out on the trail.

As we slide into the darker time of the year, I hope you are able to get out and enjoy some color while it lasts.
